About The Link

The Link is a uniquely youth and adult led nonprofit that provides crisis intervention, emergency shelter, housing, and supportive services to youth and young families who are experiencing homelessness, sex trafficking, and/or are involved in the juvenile justice or child welfare systems. Based in Minneapolis, The Link was founded in 1991 by two Black community leaders who are also former Minnesota Vikings, Jim Marshall and Oscar Reed.

The Link helps to empower 2,000 youth & young families each year through our culturally responsive programming. This includes a first of its kind rapid re-housing program for LGBTQ+ youth- Project Live Out Loud, and housing programs specifically for young parents and Black youth and families in North Minneapolis. At The Link, youth have a safe place to call home, achieve personal goals, heal from trauma, build trusting relationships, become leaders, feel connected to community, and so much more.
