Winner Recap: Win a Trip To See King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard in Miami

December 19th, 2024

Laura K. from Colorado was the winner of the Propeller experience to "Win a Trip To See King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard in Miami" that took place in November 2024. Below are some of Laura's highlights from the experience.

I'm heading into the new year with a fresh perspective on luck, and it's all thanks to Propeller! Winning a trip to see King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard in Miami was an amazing surprise and the perfect way to kick off 2025. What makes this trip even more special is knowing that it was made possible by Propeller's commitment to activism. Supporting the Human Rights Campaign and taking action for Reproductive Freedom for All are causes I deeply care about, and I'm so grateful to Propeller for creating a platform where we can make a difference in such a unique way.

This trip turned out to be more than just a concert; it was a much-needed break from the craziness that is life, filled with unforgettable moments exploring a new city with a close friend.

WEDNESDAY - Touchdown in Miami & Brickell Night Out

Check-In Kimpton EPIC Hotel - Wow, this hotel was LUSH! Comfortable beds, giant bathtub, private patio! We felt like queens, truly. Propeller team had the room resy taken care of and check-in was a breeze. Thank you, Hannah!!

Dinner at Sexy Fish - Underwater glamour, to the max! A live band performed right by our table. We ordered the smoked ora salmon bao bun, chilean sea bass w/ black truffle, and kimchi fried rice. All de-li-cious!

Late Night at Mama Tried - Walking distance from the hotel and good vibes all around. We made some local friends over a game of Uno (Which I won! The luck continues!).

THURSDAY - Poolside & Pre-Gizz Beats, Showtime!

Graffiti for Breakfast - Right down the street from the hotel, is the abandoned VITAS Healthcare skyscraper, a canvas for "graffiti bombing" tags by global artists during Art Basel 2023. Now a controversial landmark, the building is reportedly set to be covered in mesh screens by New Year's, so we were lucky to catch it.

Poolside at Kimpton - The pool at the Kimpton EPIC is gorgeous, and thankfully, we were able to soak up some Miami sun before the main event.

Vinyl at Dante's HiFi - This stop is a must for any music enthusiast! A vinyl listening bar dedicated to analog music culture in Wynwood, Dante's served up nonstop funk and soul hits. Seriously, this is THE place to be.

Main Event - Gizzy! Having already seen them at Red Rocks in September, I knew how special each King Gizzard show is. They pull from their massive catalog to create a unique experience, and Miami brought a particularly heavy Gizz set to warehouse venue Factory Town. They poured every last drop of sweat into that final US tour show—I can't wait for 2025 Colorado Springs Phantom Island!

FRIDAY - New Years Goals & Wynwood Wanderings

Bayfront Park - I feel like time paused for a moment here. Ammiee and I strolled along the waterfront, talking about life and the year ahead.

Wynwood Walls Tour - Wynwood Walls is a must-see! This renowned outdoor street art museum features pieces from over 100+ artists representing 21 countries. The tour was totally worth it; we learned so much about the artists' concepts and techniques.

Lunch at Coyo Taco - We ordered elote, salad, and pescado tacos—some seriously fresh Mexican street food.

Airport Bound - Even though the trip was a whirlwind, we left with full hearts, knowing we'd made the most of every minute.
