Winner Recap: Win a VIP Trip To Meet Goth Babe at Red Rocks

November 4th, 2024

Josh W. from Illinois was the winner of the Propeller experience to "Win a VIP Trip To Meet Goth Babe at Red Rocks" that took place in October 2024. Below are some of Josh's highlights from the experience.

We had an amazing time in Colorado! We got in early in the afternoon on Wednesday and explored downtown Denver for a few hours before checking in to the hotel. Then, we got our first experience at Red Rocks by attending the Still Woozy concert that evening. It was a much more laid back vibe than Goth Babe and we sat towards the back of the amphitheater to take in the scenery.

On Thursday, we started the day by checking out Sam's No. 3 Diner which was just a few blocks from our hotel. It was one of the biggest menus I've ever seen (literally a booklet) and all of the food was amazing. Special shoutout to the cinnamon roll which was probably the best I have ever had. After that we checked out Meow Wolf, which was interesting to say the least! It definitely lived up to the "psychedelic art experience" that it claimed to be and was really amazing to think about how they were able to put it all together. We spent a few hours there trying to take it all in, but their warnings about memory loss from the multi-dimensional experience proved to be true as it's impossible to comprehend everything we saw.

My favorite part of the trip was that night at the Goth Babe concert. We got there early and were given a signed VIP badge and escorted to the stage for our experience. The band then performed a song acoustically for the 15-20 of us there and then had a Q&A with us after. It was really cool to hear about their inspiration for making music and all of the experiences that come with touring around the country. They seemed very down to earth and easy to talk to which only makes me like their music even more! We finished a few minutes before the doors opened so we were able to grab seats just a few rows back. This really made us feel much more involved in the show, especially compared to the previous night. Goth Babe tries to put on a very interactive show, so while they were performing there were cardboard cutouts being passed around, beach balls flying, cupcakes thrown, and even some Mario Kart being played by a couple of people from the audience. It was an incredible performance and the openers set it up really well too!

Even though our Propeller experiences were over, we extended our trip a little longer to take advantage of the amazing weather and hiking opportunities in Colorado. On Friday we picked up our rental car and drove to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. It was a little far (4 hours), but it's a place my girlfriend has always wanted to visit so we did it for our anniversary. We sand boarded and sled down the dunes and took in the scenery with the mountains in the background. We also did a short hike to a waterfall close by. It's also a certified dark sky area (minimal light pollution) so we made sure to stargaze that night. On Saturday, we drove back to Denver and made a pit stop at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs to get some more hiking in. We covered most of the park and took in as many different views of the rock formations as we could.

Finally, we flew back to Chicago on Sunday and basically collapsed. We are so grateful to Propeller for providing this opportunity. It was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity that we will never forget.
