Winner Recap: Win A VIP Weekend Stay At The Williamsburg Hotel + Exclusive Merch

July 23rd, 2024

Kari N. was the winner of the Propeller experience to "Win A VIP Weekend Stay At The Williamsburg Hotel + Exclusive Merch" that took place in May 2024. Below are some of Kari's highlights from the experience.

I am so happy that I won this 1-night stay at the Arlo Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn!

My husband and I attended the Sound Mind Music Festival for mental health in May. We were walking around the festival, checking out all the various booths and vendors, when I saw that there was a QR code to scan for a giveaway of some kind. After scanning it and realizing it was a Propeller partnership, I was so excited! I've been using Propeller for a long time, and am always thrilled to participate in any way to help further the causes they support. I had completely forgotten that I'd entered, so when I got the email letting me know that I had won, I was blown away!

We live in New York, so we planned an entire staycation around food and activities in Williamsburg — a neighborhood we are almost never in. We checked into our amazing hotel room, geared up to step out into the sweltering heat, and headed out to begin our food journey. Williamsburg is one of the NYC neighborhoods known for having some of the best pizza spots in the city. So we started our trip with pizza from Ace's Pizza. It's a Detroit style pizza restaurant with amazing vibes and maybe the best slice of pizza I've ever had (not an exaggeration).

Next, we wanted to explore the shops of Williamsburg. So we visited Black Springs Books, tons of vintage clothing stores, a few vinyl shops, and some adorable boutiques before heading to Fresh Kills Bar for some of the best cocktails in the neighborhood.

Once dinner rolled around, we decided to head to L'Industrie Pizzeria for one of the best New York style slices in the city (get the burrata!). Then we walked down to explore Domino Park and Marsha P. Johnson State Park. Of course, everyone knows you need a cookie to truly enjoy a good park exploration, so we grabbed some chocolate chip cookies from Chip City to ensure a positive experience.

We had an absolutely fabulous night of sleep at the Arlo — the bed was fantastic! So we were fully recharged and ready to head back out first thing in the morning.

We knew that there was only one place we could go for breakfast in the neighborhood — La Bicyclette Bakery! They have the single best baguette we've found in New York, so we purchased two, got an entire block of imported French butter, and nearly died from how delicious the baguettes were.

Our final stop on our food journey was Qahwah House for the best Chai Masala in the city.

We were sad to check out of the Arlo Williamsburg, but it was a fabulous little getaway inside our own city that we never would have been able to do without the generosity of Sound Mind Music Festival and Propeller!

Thank you so much for the incredible staycation!
