Upon welcoming SCI survivor Eric Howk as the guitarist of Portugal. The Man, the band did anything they could to make touring work for a wheelchair user, even if that meant lifting Howk on and off the tour bus. Together, they began to notice improvements in accessibility standards at venues, and came to the conclusion that they wanted to see the same efforts taken on the fans' side.
Alongside their North American tour in 2022, the band launched PTM Night Out, an initiative created to make their concerts ADA accessible. As a part of the initiative, select winners were treated to transportation to and from the venue, an on-site escort and a meet and greet with the band.
